Honey recipes for Cold and Flu

With the change in weather comes cold and flu! While we know that nothing can completely cure the common cold, we know that there are certain remedies to help ease the symptoms. In previous years, I had been subject to persistent and stubborn coughs that would rack up my whole body and could last for weeks or even, months! My doctor would prescribe so many cough syrups and expectorants all to no avail. The strain these persistent coughs had on my throat and lungs, for such a long period of time, was really hard to bear as it took its toll on my health.

Sooner or later, I realized that when you are irritated with an inflamed nose and throat and thoroughly weakened from sniffing and coughing all the time, you certainly need a warm drink to soothe your nose and throat. Not only did these drinks ease my symptoms, they also provided a soothing relief and helped to reduce the duration of days and months that I experienced such colds, as well as its persistence. These cold fighting drinks will definitely do that!

Spicy Ginger Tea for Cold and Cough

All you need is:

·         2 cups of filtered water

·         1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger (good for sinus trouble and congestion)

·         1 tablespoon raw honey (a natural antibiotic and expectorant)

·         ½ lemon, juiced (to boost the immune system)

·         A dash of cinnamon (an antioxidant spice)

Add the grated ginger to the water and allow to steep for about 3 minutes or more. Mix the freshly squeezed lemon juice and honey and strain the ginger tea into it. Stir well to dissolve the honey and add the cinnamon and enjoy.

Apple cider ginger tea

All you need is:

·         2 tablespoons organic apple cider vinegar (boost your immune system and for detoxification)

·         1 tablespoon honey

·         1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

·         1 cup of warm water

Mix the apple cider vinegar to the cup of warm water. Add the lemon juice and honey to it and drink. Do not add honey to hot water as the heat breaks down the enzymatic activity and destroys the honey.

Try these simple warm drinks for an instant and trusted relief from cold and flu. Enjoy!
